The vacancy
The Commonwealth Secretariat is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Communications Intern to join its Communications Division (COM). This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful international work while developing professional skills across research, writing, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement.
The Communications Division plays a central role in raising awareness of Commonwealth values, programmes, and events. It manages stakeholder and media relations, publications, publicity, and the Secretariat’s digital presence including its website and social media platforms.
As a Communications Intern, you will support these functions by contributing to research, content development, and day‑to‑day operational tasks that strengthen the Commonwealth’s visibility and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with research and writing to produce engaging and informative communications outputs.
Support daily operations across internal and external communications, including administrative duties.
Contribute to audience‑reach reporting by helping prepare analytics and performance summaries.
Maintain content management systems such as the Commonwealth Intranet and digital content platforms.
Support event planning and assist with in‑person initiatives hosted by the Division.
Identify trends and opportunities to help the Division reach wider audiences and improve efficiency.
This internship is ideal for someone eager to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic international communications environment, build a strong professional portfolio, and contribute to the work of a global organisation committed to positive change.
