We have an excellent opportunity for a Temporary Programme Assistant to work within the Health Unit of the Social Policy Development Section at the Commonwealth Secretariat for a 12 month period.
The Programme Assistant will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the health team in collaboration with other team members in the Social Policy Development section.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support, including correspondence, procurement and payments, travel arrangements; contribute to development of papers, speeches, presentations and talking points; and support the coordination of health programme meetings, groups, networks, communities and on-line content. You will also be required to provide technical input to the design and delivery of programme activity; contribute to the development of context-specific research papers, toolkits, resources, guidelines and training programmes; coordinate knowledge management; and support with monitoring the outcomes of technical assistance and programme work
To be considered, you will need to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in health policy, development studies, social science, or a related field. Relevant practical experience in gender health related initiatives or sexual reproductive health services is a distinct advantage. A relevant post graduate qualification highly desirable.
You will need at least two years of experience in administrative duties and familiarity with financial procedures, within a health context; demonstrable work experience in the design and delivery of development and/or health-led development or programmes in a similar field; ability to demonstrate substantial regional knowledge and cultural knowledge; and have sound and demonstrated knowledge of health and youth and/or social development, and demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement.
