We have an excellent opportunity for a Planning and Monitoring Officer, in our Strategy, Portfolio, Partnerships and Digital Division (SPPDD).

 

SPPDD supports the Secretary-General in devising strategies, policies and innovative institutional mechanisms and practices to implement the Secretariat’s programme of work, as mandated by member governments. The Portfolio Management Section is tasked with several critical functions: 1) Crafting the Secretariat’s Strategic Plan, including the Portfolio of initiatives that support it; 2) Overseeing the Programme Planning and Budgeting processes; 3) Developing and managing a system for quality assurance as well as monitoring and reporting periodically on the Secretariat’s achievements and progress; 4) Offering counsel and assistance to Directorates on program implementation; 5) Integrating the Secretariat’s guidelines and instruments for project management and overseeing the implementation of the project management information system.

 

The successful candidate will support strategic and delivery planning, including development and execution of the Secretariat's Strategic Plan, as well as its annual Delivery Plan; monitoring, including quarterly performance reviews for the portfolio, which involves compiling reports and presenting them to management for review; and reporting, which includes coordinating and managing the preparation of the Secretariat’s six-monthly reports and the Annual Results Report for presentation to the Secretariat’s governing bodies’ meetings.

 

To be considered, you will need a post-graduate degree in development studies, international relations, economics, public administration or a related field. You will need minimum of 5 years working experience in international development programmes, gained in a government planning agency or at an international/inter-governmental organization. Considerable working experience in monitoring performance and results at the programme level, and experience in advising and supporting non-specialists in planning, monitoring and evaluation, and designing and delivering capacity building and learning interventions is required. Also required is experience of writing organizational performance reports for internal and external audiences, and a familiarity with spreadsheets and databases.
